isabel toledo

i saw the isabel toledo exhibition at FIT this week with my fashion design class. so amazing!! now that i am learning how to design and construct clothing (properly) from scratch i have such a heightened appreciation for what it takes to make beautiful, artistic, well-crafted garments. i have a long way to go personally, but i was very inspired by the show. i was a tourist for a day last week in philadelphia. sean's parents were visiting the east coast from california, and we took them to meet my parents in philly!! we saw some sights and they got acquainted. i'd seen the historic sights before, but it was fun to have another look.

i have long been interested in quilts and quilting, but i've still never made one! i love these rilli quilts from soof at auto. even on sale they are out of my price range, though, so here's my extra motivation to get quilting...

sean and i went backpacking for a couple of days in the yosemite wilderness. it was a big deal for me, only my second backpacking trip ever. being a city girl out in the woods is a little scary at times, but we were rewarded with incredible views and a sense of quiet peace at our campsite. sean even taught me how to use a compass and read a topographical map, but i don't think i'll be trying those skills on my own anytime soon.
