weirdly, even though i have been screenprinting for years, i have never made my own screens at home. i've always either made them at a real print shop, or had them made for me. now i'm trying my hand and exposing them myself - and its taking a little experimenting to get it right!

its going to be a busy weekend. i have lots of designing to do, and sean has some house projects and a good bit of work. we're starting off well, with some hot oatmeal and sunshine!

it gets pretty dark out here in the country, so sean got me my very own headlamp. when i go outside at night, the grass sparkles with water droplets.

i love these tangled branches, and of course another sunny day provides great shadows!

there are so many beautiful mosses growing in the area. they are like tiny forests. this little patch has taken up residence in the corner of our deck.

there were a lot of treasures washed up on the beach this morning! the shells around here usually get broken up by the pacific, but there are always lots of beautiful smooth stones to look at.

as i am designing new patterns, i have been looking back at photos i've taken for ideas. i often get my best inspiration from random moments.

sean and i took a bike ride yesterday around the farmlands of arcata. it was a beautiful day, and very windy! on the way out to the beach we had a tough time riding into the wind, but we got to coast back to the car.

i'm working at my computer a lot lately, developing some new print designs. the creative process is mysterious to me - sometimes it takes forever to come up with something i like.

it has been raining a lot and the grass is getting very green. things grow like crazy here in the spring.

sean got a new honda fit two weeks ago. it is a tiny, well designed fuel efficient little cutie. in many ways, a vast improvement over his old truck. its so new, it still smells like a rental car.
