a few weeks ago sean and i went to the big E, the county fair in nearby springfield. i'd never been to this type of fair before - it was fun to look at all of the farm animals! unfortunately my camera ran out of memory before we got to the antique tractors and tiny nursing piglets. we passed on the funnel cakes, dizzying rides, and generally overblown commercialism at the fair.

i have been extremely busy the last couple of weeks, little time to post. we are slowly getting settled in northampton, and enjoying the lovely views of fall in our neighborhood. i took this pic before the leaves started falling - there was such a lovely fog in the backyard. it reminded me of mornings in humboldt county.

sean and i made a trip last weekend to bard to see rapture, a new dance by noemie lafrance which was performed on the roof of the frank gehry designed fisher center for the performing arts. it was a fantastic trip, a bit of memory lane for me... with a visit to the blythewood gardens on bard's campus, a favorite old spot which is decidedly better maintained than during my bard years.
we stopped in at KOSA, a sweet shop in hudson, ny that is now carrying raeburn ink tees..

it has taken me a while to post these last pictures from our cross country trip! we made an unexpected stop in south dakota at a nuclear missile silo and launch facility that was built in the sixties. it is no longer in use, of course, but is open as a national monument. our tour was led by a former member of the air force who had worked at the launch facility in its earliest days. we saw the bunker where the air force was always ready to press the button and start a nuclear war with the ussr. mind boggling!
