FINALLY, a snowstorm worth its salt in western mass. the pretty wet kind, that sticks to everything.

our new couch. i can't believe we found another yellow one to replace the old.

being married to an outdoorsy type, i've learned the proper terminology for active clothing. these patagonia capilene tee shirts are wicking baselayers, which means they draw sweat away from your skin to keep you comfortable and dry. more importantly for a design lover, they have graphics drawn by me!

i am having a serious design crush this morning. i found these incredible climbing rope necklaces from orly genger on one of my favorite blogs, fly.

update: i missed mentioning jaclyn mayer earlier, apparently these lovelies are a collaboration between two artists, even better!

aah, rodarte!

we have gotten hardly any snow this winter in western mass. so i had to take advantage of yesterday's little snowfall and take a walk this morning. so pretty!

my cat sally wouldn't sit still for the pictures, but i tried to take some of the amazingly formed and large snowflakes falling on her black fur!

we saw tegan and sara today. the show was great! i was especially blown away by the lighting design, a cross between james turrell and tim burton - brilliant!

we got the chance to see this fabulous installation at ps1 last weekend.

india textiles part one

during our trip to india we got to see glimpses of the rich textile traditions of rajasthan, the region we travelled through. it was a marvel to me to see artisans working firsthand with such incredible skill. one of my favorite spots was our stop at dastkar in ranthambhore, an NGO dedicated to promoting local craftspeople. i watched this block printer for a while (swoon!) - she worked so quickly and precisely, registering the blocks by eye to create repeat fabrics. no pinning of the fabric, no measuring. her work table shows a lot of history, too.

sean and i have been hunting for a new couch for a while now. i just saw this one in the nytimes, i absolutely love the combination of antique couch and wild mismatched cushions.

merino tees for patagonia

i know i've been away from this blog for eons, i had a very big project to finish up in december (more on that soon!) and then i spent the month of january in northern india (lots of pictures to come, i promise!). but first i'm so happy to share that the first of the tee shirts i've designed for patagonia is here! i'm so pleased to be working with this company, their business philosophies and care taken in making quality, responsible products are an inspiration to me. these are merino tees, so they'll keep you warm and cool at the same time - patagonia's merino is a delicious, if slightly pricy treat. i can't wait to get my hands on one, you can see them (and pick up one of your own) here.
