i bought two beautiful books online, they were waiting for me when i came home from orange county. printing by hand is by lena corwin - its a clear, lovely hand printing book with so many projects i'm looking forward to trying. and i've had my eye on neogeo for a while, a survey of the current graphic design trends in geometric abstraction - my favorite!!!

the lost coast

we hiked out to an old lighthouse on the fantastic lost coast today. it was a beautiful hike, with lots of great scenery, wildlife sightings, and beachcombing. but it was a little sad too because it was our last hike with the dogs - they are staying in california when we move east. we will miss them!!

faythe of handmade nation posted some pics of my booth at renegade to her flikr account - she has lots of other great pictures of the fair.
at the renegade i found out that i was on decor8's etsy take five tuesdays column last week! such a lovely blog...
the renegade craft fair in san francisco was a hit! i met so many great people, and was very impressed by the quality and variety of the wares. visitors seemed to love it. and what a refreshing change to be in the fort mason center, a huge pier with plenty of space for spreading out, and no sunburn potential.

we have been experimenting with kitty travel methods, as we may drive across the country with the cats for our move to northampton this summer. this attempt was made with harnesses that hook into the seat belts for safety. they didn't like it very much.

the humboldt fog did a pretty thorough job of obliterating the city's fireworks display last night, but fortunately there was a big party in the neighborhood that took some homegrown initiative. and we bought lots of sparklers!

its that time of year again - the blackberries growing all around our property are getting ready to ripen. i love the way the plants look at this stage, the flower petals are so delicate and papery, and out of them grows a wiry mass with tiny green berries inside. in another few weeks the berries will be ready to pick, and so delicious. we froze lots last year (we're still eating them!) and got all scraped up picking them. the sweet flowers grow on very thorny branches.
